Maria P. Canter, MD, MSc, FACOG, joins The Urology Group in April of 2015, after nine years of practice in Northern VA.

 

 

Maria P. Canter, MD, MSc, FACOG, joins The Urology Group after nine years of practice in Northern VA.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Scholar of the College from Boston College.  She then earned her medical degree with honors in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her residency from Georgetown University Medical Center and received the award for Endoscopic/Laparoscopic Surgery.  She would briefly move to Louisville, KY, for a three-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. While in fellowship, she earned a Masters in Science for Clinical Investigation, and she received the prestigious June Allyson Award from the American Urogynecologic Society. Dr. Canter is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

 

Dr. Canter specializes in minimally invasive procedures to treat urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse in women. Some of these procedures include Sacral Neuromodulation, Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Surgeries, and Sling procedures.
